The Graduate Aptitude Test for Engineering is a national-level engineering entrance exam for admission into Master’s programmes and recruitment in PSUs. IIT Kanpur will be responsible for the GATE exam in 2023. The officials will soon send out official notices. In September 2022, the GATE exam notification will be sent out, along with the official brochure, exam date, and link to the application form. The GATE exam is conducted by IISc Bangalore, IIT Kanpur, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Madras, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kharagpur, and IIT Roorkee on a yearly rotation basis.

What exactly is the IES Exam?

Indian Engineering Services, or ESE, is a group of engineers who work for the government of India and are called Class–1 officers. The Indian Engineering Services (IES) is also known as the Engineering Services Examination (ESE). The IES exam is a national examination administered by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) to hire engineering graduates. Each year, the commission administers the IES exam for the major branches of electrical, civil, mechanical, electronics, and telecommunications engineering.

Eligibility for the GATE Exam

Candidates must confirm that they fulfil all eligibility requirements prior to registering online for the GATE examination. There are academic requirements, an age limit, and a passing score to meet in order to take the GATE 2023 exam.

The GATE Exam can only be taken by individuals who meet the following requirements.

Educational Requirements

The exam’s educational requirements have been relaxed. Students in their third or final year of an undergraduate degree will be able to take the exam. Graduates of any government-approved degree programme in engineering, technology, science, commerce, architecture, or the arts will be eligible to sit for the GATE 2023 exam in 2023. If a candidate wants to take the GATE exam, they must have either of the following:

  • Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Technology in Pharmaceutics or Biotechnology
  • B.Sc (Research)/B.S
  • B.Arch
  • MCA, M.Sc., M.A., or an equivalent degree
  • Dual Degree (after Diploma or 10+2) or Integrated M.E./M.Tech.
  • Integrated M.Sc./Integrated B.S-M.S
  • Master of Engineering and Master of Technology (Post-B.Sc.)
  • B.E./B. Tech/B. Arch

To be eligible for the GATE exam, you must have at least a 10+2+3 grade point average. Candidates can also apply for the GATE exam during their final year of college.

The GATE exam 2023 does not specify a minimum pass percentage requirement.

Age Limit

There’s no maximum age for taking the GATE exam.

Nationality

To be eligible to apply for GATE 2023, you must be an Indian citizen. Candidates from countries such as Nepal, Singapore, Ethiopia, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and the United Arab Emirates are all eligible for the GATE.

GATE Criteria for International Students to Apply

  • Candidates from these countries –  United Arab Emirates, Ethiopia, Singapore, Nepal, Sri Lanka must have a bachelor’s degree in engineering and technology or something similar. They can also be in their final year or the year before that.

Documents to Support Eligibility

The documents should be submitted (uploaded) by candidates who have already passed the exams. The degree certificate should be submitted. If an applicant is expected to pass the qualifying exam, he or she must submit a certificate from the head of the department/institute. A bachelor’s degree in engineering is necessary to apply online. Candidates from countries other than India must have a 4-year engineering bachelor’s degree or be in the last year of it.
