HIGHLIGHTS OF THE TREK

Tarsar Marsar Trek is famous for its lakes which are the essence of this trek.

Tarsar Lake

The snow-capped alpine lake, spread between the Aru Valley and the Sindh Valley, is surrounded by a variety of herbs and flowers, making it an inexplicable sight. The deep blue aquamarine waters of this lake remain covered in ice for the rest of the year, except for the period between July and September. Even if one visits the lake in early July, spots of snow can be seen on its periphery.

Marser Lake

The lake is situated in a deep gorge against the Mahadev mountain range which makes for a spectacular sight. The lake is usually viewed from a ridge about 600–700 ft above. The clouds guarding the lake, separated to give a moment’s glimpse, only to be reunited, are a mystical sight.

The Marsar Lake approaches the end of the trek from Sundarsar before descending to Humans. There are schools of trout in Marsar Lake, but hardly anyone goes fishing. All these alpine lakes seem to make the local folklore interesting.

Sundarsar Lake

Various species of alpine flora are found in Surdarsar Lake, which is seen lining the basin of the lake. Camping on the banks of Sundarsar Lake is a great experience, offering an opportunity to savor the fruits of the remote and rustic Gurjar culture with the herders here.
